WEB 2.0 TOOLS
Discovering the many ways used to communicate during the MET renovations. The variety of new and interesting Web 2.0 tools kept me renovating my thinking, skills, sharing and perspectives.
Tools that I have experienced as a result of my MET renovations include - Skype, Googledocs, Wordle, Photo Peach, Last FM, Flickr, Delicious, Diigo, SNAPP, X-tranormal, Animoto, Amaya (html editor), Cacoo, Symbaloo, You Tube, Twitter and Facebook. This is not an exhaustive list of Web 2.0 (3.0) tools that I have explored. Many others can be found in the course blogs, wikis, reflections and assignments.

Digital Storytelling with Photo PeachCreating a 'new wing' on this human house resulted from many efforts during ETEC 565. One challenging project that required patience, creativity and persistence was the digital storytelling assignment. By presenting this story of a young turtle's quest to seek his teacher, I discovered some truths about my own philosophy of learning, my own pedagogical rationale for integrating technology into learning and roots into my personal teaching preferences. X-tranormal - The Queen's Cell PhoneMy first experience with X-tranormal left me excited and wanting more. But the time it takes to create one short video animation is daunting. Fine tuning the text to get the 'speech' just right is challenging. Enjoy the clip about the Queen's Cell Phone HERE.

HTML codingCoding in html is not my strength or my passion, but after work done in ETEC 510, 565 and 512, my appreciation and understanding of/for coding has increased. This animated coding is not my own, but continues to fascinate me. "The html coding is complicated to the eye, but the results are eye catching" (H. DeWaard, 2011). ETEC 565 provided an opportunity to practice creating html documents for a specific purpose and application. Applying the SECTIONS framework (Bates and Poole, 2003) while completing this task renovated my ability to design effective e-learning environments.
