The Work
Each course was an individual renovation project, following the same "value creation story" (Wenger & DeLaat, 2011). Each course had it's own unique plan, set of tools, challenges and successes. The core courses are the 'deconstructon' phase and the elective courses are the 'reconstructing' part of my renovations. The finishing touches and next project directions are explored in the ETEC 590 section. Since ETEC 520 will be my final course, it will be added when it is completed in the spring of 2013.
Through the explicit use of Wenger & DeLaat's (2011) conceptual framework of value creation in communities and networks, I will examine the immediate, potential, applied, realized and reframing value of the MET learning experiences. (View the slide presentation below to learn more about this framework).
Artifacts for each course are selected to reflect standards outlined by the British Columbia Council of Teachers (BCCT), the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards of practice for teachers in relation to educational technology. I will showcase my MET work in relation to benchmarks set by professional organizations and determine the realized and reframed value of my skills, talents, abilities and perspective. The chart attached below provides an outline of how the artifacts meet and match the standards.
